At Arkas Line, diversity, equality, and inclusion are core to our values. We prioritize treating all employees with dignity and preventing discrimination. Leading in female employment and gender equality, we support women’s participation in the workforce, offer inclusive leadership training, and pioneer female employment on our ships. We facilitate the return of female employees after maternity leave and maintain balanced gender ratios in management. Our hiring decisions are based solely on qualifications and performance, fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace for everyone.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

SDG Innovations for Arkas Line Young Professionals<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>

In 2023, Arkas Line proudly joined the SDG Innovation for Young Professionals accelerator programme, organized by the United Nations Global Compact. This initiative aims to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by fostering innovation among young professionals. Arkas Line was honored to be one of the 25 companies from T\u00fcrkiye selected to participate, and we are especially proud to be the first and only company from the maritime sector involved in this prestigious programme.<\/p>\n

Aligned with our sustainability goals, this programme empowers young talents under 35 from Arkas Line to collaborate and develop innovative business solutions that contribute to the SDGs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

In February 2024, three of our selected innovators embarked on the nine-month sustainability programme, working alongside industry professionals within the UN Global Compact to rethink business models and address key sustainability challenges.<\/p>\n

During the programme, our participants focused on a company-specific problem and developed innovation-driven solutions under the guidance of expert mentors. This process enabled us to achieve tangible and valuable gains that further our sustainability objectives and paved the way for the launch of our gamification-based sustainability training process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

University Collaborations <\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>

Each year, we participate in career days at top universities in T\u00fcrkiye to promote Arkas Line. In the third quarter of 2023, Arkas Merchant Marine Fleet held presentations with Arkas Line executives at Vocational Schools of Higher Education and 10 universities with Maritime Faculties, including Istanbul Technical University, Dokuz Eyl\u00fcl University, Piri Reis University, and Y\u0131ld\u0131z Technical University. These collaborations foster talent and strengthen industry ties.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

We continue to transform our impact into positive actions for a sustainable future. Every year, we give our colleagues the chance to donate to a non-governmental organization of their choice, supporting their solidarity efforts. In 2023, on behalf of 1,445 employees, we contributed to 15 different associations and foundations, supporting initiatives such as keeping seawater clean, planting saplings, providing food for stray animals, and aiding the treatment and education of children in need.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Support for Young Coders<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>

At Arkas Line, we proudly sponsored Istanbul Sainte Pulcherie French High School’s robotics team, SPARC 5665, a prestigious Impact Award Finalist at the 2023 First Robotics Competition World Championship held in the USA. The team uses recycled materials in robot construction, promotes sustainability in their designs, and shares surplus materials with other teams in need. The First Robotics Competition engages young people aged 12-18 in technology and science, fostering teamwork, creativity, and engineering skills. Last year, 650 teams from 56 countries competed in the FRC World Championship, showcasing the initiative’s global impact.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Make a Wish Foundation – Wish Tree Star Award<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>

Make-A-Wish\u00ae Turkey (Bir Dilek Tut Derne\u011fi) continues its efforts and projects to fulfill the dreams of children aged 3\u201318 who are battling life-threatening illnesses. The organization works to turn these children\u2019s wishes into reality, providing them with hope, resilience, and joy. In a joint project with Bir Dilek Tut Derne\u011fi at the end of 2023, we established \u2018Wish Shops\u2019 in Arkas office buildings to benefit the association. Among all corporations, we have succeeded to raise the highest amount of donations, we were honored with the \u2018Wish Tree Star\u2019 award.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
