ESG Priorities

Our Materiality Analysis conducted by gathering stakeholder feedback, highlights the highest priority issues in Environmental, Social, and Governance areas, guiding us toward a sustainable maritime future.

Materiality Analysis Overview

We review our sustainability priorities, which we determine with the active participation of our stakeholders, every year to assess whether they address changing trends and conditions. With this approach, we reassess the issues that have the greatest impact on our operations and all our activities, and the areas where we can create the most value.

Peer Analysis

During the 2024 reporting period, we conducted a peer analysis to identify areas for improvement in our sustainability efforts. In our peer analysis study, we considered our industry’s sustainability priorities, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, our stakeholders’ expectations, competitor analyses, and current developments in the sustainability ecosystem worldwide and in Turkey. In line with this comprehensive study, we expanded our stakeholder map by adding local communities and educational institutions, while strengthening our priority issues in the field of sustainability.

Materiality Matrix

The materiality matrix created as part of our materiality analysis classifies environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues according to their level of importance for both Arkas Line and external stakeholders. The matrix groups 16 sustainability issues into “Very High Priority,” “High Priority,” and “Priority” categories, helping us determine our strategic focus areas.

High-Priority Topics

We increased our total number of priority issues from 12 in 2023 to 16, based on our benchmarking and gap analysis. These issues reflect our commitment to addressing environmental and social challenges and our goal of creating long-term value for our stakeholders and operations. In our materiality matrix, we addressed our issues under Environmental, Social, and Governance categories, which is different from last year.
